Skype is a free download for all computer platforms that allows you to talk to other Skype users through either text chat, audio chat or video chat for free. It is a useful tool for communicating with collaborative partners. Below is a video of a primary class using Skype to communicate with an overseas class from Allanah King's blog.
Wikis
Wikispaces and PBWorks are both places where you can sign up for a free wiki. A wiki is an online website where you can have pages of content and link to resources. This site is a wiki.
Voicethread
Voicethread is an online tool where an image or video is uploaded as a slide to the Voicethread and then comments about that content can be left around the outside of the slide. It can be used to collect perspectives of students involved in collaboartive projects. It is also a great reflection tool as in the example below
Mindmeister
Mindmeister is an online mindmapping tool that allows you to create mindmas that can be collaboratively edited. I made the one below as an example - many of the tools are hyperlinked on the map.
Etherpad
Etherpad is a tool that allows people to add to an online shared document without needing to set up an account first. All they need to do is follow the internet link and then start typing onto the document. Try it out by adding to this document about collaboration.
Poll Daddy
Poll Daddy allows you to create polls to find out the opinions of collaborative partners. These can be straight text options or have videos embedded as in the example below.
Surveys
SurveyGizmo, Survey Monkey are two examples of survey tools that you can use to survey partners in a collabaorative project. You can embed surveys made with SurveyGizmo into a wiki while you have to go to the Survey Monkey to complete surveys. Below is an example of a SurveyGizmo survey.
This great tool allows you to easily create an embeddable form which feeds into an online database that you can download into Excel or as PDFs. I have used it to create submission forms for workshops for our ICT Expos. I have also used it to make online booking forms for teachers to let me know what they would like to work on in my sessions with them.
To use, you will need an account with Zoho (which will also give you access to their other tools such as an online word processor and online slide presentations).

Diigo is a social bookmarking tool. This allows you to bookmark websites and store these bookmarks online as well as then share your bookmarks easily with others.
